Organic.....

This weeks prompt from Kim Klassen is 'organic.'

I'm on holiday from the UK in Cape Cod, so took a walk along Old Silver Beach, where we are staying this week and took some shots.

Luckily I had this blue linen scarf with me.......I like the way that the blue holds the little heart shaped stones and the shells and reflects the sky here at Falmouth ........

Cape Cod flea market finds.....

I'm officially excited to have found these fabulous photographs at a Cape Cod flea market today. I need to have a good look at them, but think that they may be of the same family, torn out of an album, which is sad. But I will put them to good use and they will be seen again....all in good time, and in the UK.

The coins are transportation coins, used on buses in the past.......

What's in my travel bag.......

I usually bring too much journaling stuff with me on holiday......

This time, just this little stash......and only used the scissors and glue stick so far......in a small moleskine journal.

Couldn't resist bringing my new fine liners - but haven't used them much yet.......grungy old watercolours also taking a back seat........

Collaging......

Collaging in the USA.......

Have gone from international upbeat vibe Boston to small town America on Cape Cod in one day.......slow now......

Collage.....

Whenever I get my hands on a Vogue all I want to do is collage.........;-)

Portrait.......

The Kim Klassen prompt this week is about family portraits..... Not the usual kind, but taking objects that describe or have the essence of a person and building an arrangement with them in mind.

We are now on holiday from the UK to Boston USA, on our way to Cape Cod......

So, not a great deal to work with! I just took these shots which describe my hubby.

We have come all the way to America, and I brought half a dozen books on my kindle.

Not for Paul, he like a proper book - even though it means carrying half a ton more luggage than he needs to! So here is a shot that describes him to a tee........the books in tow, with the ever present Guardian Cryptic crossword.......

Studio.....

In my studio today........using my lovely Rollerco press, making prints for the Northern Print Christmas exhibition (!)

Time for a bit of playing too....here are the results of the play.......Christmas pieces coming, but not quite yet!

The photo of the studio is going to Seth Apters blog thealteredpage.blogspot.com/

He's doing a piece on his blog about artists' studios in use, rather than in pristine condition.

Cookies or biscuits?

This weeks Kim Klassen, 'Be Still 52' prompt is milk and cookies..........

Cookies, biscuits....what do you call them? Whatever they are called I didn't have time to make any, so here is my ancient Delia Smith cookery book, held together with sellotape, splattered pages and some of the ingredients!

So a big shout out for 'biscuits' from the UK (might not be so united for much longer if the Scots decide to become independent in next weeks poll - if they do I will be so sad.......).

Im off to the USofA on Friday for a couple of weeks so cookies here I come :-)

Fun with canvas......

Yesterday I taught a class using a canvas, acrylic, making collage papers and adding fun embellishments at Gateshead Central Library Gallery.

We had a great morning, ten women who didn't mind getting very messy........who fancied a tea break.....and I was a bit of a task mistress.....but then relented and the tea just spurred them on to make some great work........;-)

One of parents weddings,a holiday in Africa,a music event in Whitby,a luuurve canvas........all so creative and beautiful.......

I love that I give the same set of instructions and everyone comes up with great results, and all so different.......

Cuppa.......

This weeks photography prompt - laundry, cup of tea - ordinary things......

These are not my ordinary cups, serviettes or teaspoons, but hey why not be a little ott sometimes!

I gathered up some things that would go with the new piece of work that I did last week and here are the results......
